INSYS WLAN serial 2.1

Configuring the IP Address
IP address and netmask, a port, optionally the name servers, the standard gateway, as
well as the protocol (TCP or UDP) for incoming and outgoing connections must be con-
figured that the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 can be accessed via a TCP/IP network and access
other devices. The INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 receives the data at the TCP/IP port that are
output at the serial interface.
The name servers are only queried if the addresses of the remote terminal are specified
as fully qualified domain name for the connection establishment from the INSYS WLAN
serial 2.1.
The standard gateway accepts all packets with destination addresses that are not in the
own network and forwards them. If the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 is intended to communi-
cate only within a network, a standard gateway is not necessary.
You can make these settings manually or retrieve them from a DHCP server. This does
not apply to the protocol; it can only be configured manually.
The Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) can be used for time-critical applications, for
which must be ensured that all data are transmitted completely. The User Datagram Pro-
tocol (UDP) can be used for other applications, for which is not necessary that all sent
packets are transmitted completely. The check of the success of the data transmission
does not apply for UDP. If you specify the protocol, the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 will use the
configured protocol for outgoing connection establishment as long as no other protocol
is defined by the dial-up command.
Default setting is the IP address 192.168.1.1 with netmask 255.255.255.0, port 1234 with
TCP protocol.
Configuration with HSComm

IP configuration
data on the "Network" tab in the "IP settings" panel
(Figure 7, page 45, position 1).
In order to
retrieve the IP configuration of the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1 from a
DHCP server
, check the checkbox "get IP address from DHCP server" (Figure 7,
page 45, position 1).
Configuration with AT commands
In order to
configure the IP address
, use the
command
Enter instead of
<IP>
the desired IP address of
the INSYS WLAN serial 2.1.
AT#IP=<IP>
In order to
configure the netmask
, use the
command
