3. Flash gas in liquid refrigerant
line (indicated by a foamy or
bubbly sight glass)
Locate and repair leak in
refrigerant system. Recharge
refrigerant to proper levels.
4. Clogged filter-drier (housing
feels cool to the touch)
Replace filter-drier
5. Expansion valve stuck in
closed position; possible
obstruction, or broken capillary
tube
Replace valve and/or power
head assembly
Suction pressure too low

6. Air side of evaporator coil is
dirty
Clean coil.
1. Improper hot gas regulator
valve setting
Adjust hot gas regulator valve.
Refer to Section 2-4
Evaporator coil ices
2. Faulty ambient air
temperature sensor (RTD2)
Verify continuity across RTD2
connections at cooling controller
ETC2 terminals. Replace RTD2
as required.
