SHIPPING AND RECEIVING
1. GENERAL
When shipped domestically, the Model RJ150 Mobile Air Conditioner does not
normally require crating or a solid external container. The unit is normally
shipped completely assembled. In some cases, the flexible Pre-Conditioned Air
(PCA) hose and aircraft adapter may be removed from the unit and shipped
separately.
2. PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT
To prepare the unit for shipment, perform the following:
•
Disconnect battery cables negative ("-") side only.
•
Ensure all doors are closed and securely fastened.
•
Secure ground power cables to stowage tray.
•
Inspect fuel fill port cap for proper seal and security.
CAUTION
DO NOT ANCHOR THE UNIT BY PASSING BANDS OR CABLES OVER THE
SUPERSTRUCTURE. SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE UPPER FRAME AND CANOPY
PANELS MAY OCCUR.
•
Use 1-1/4 inch steel banding (minimum) or 3/8 inch steel cables (minimum) to
secure unit to skid base/transporter platform. Attach banding/cables to the
front and rear axles, or to the fore and aft frame members. On units so
equipped, tie down rings may be used to secure the unit to skid
base/transporter platform.
•
When deemed advisable by the shipping activity, the unit should be covered
with waterproof canvas or polyethylene material is such a manner as to
prevent the entry of natural elements into the electrical and instrument areas.
•
Application of the covering material should be accomplished in such a
manner as to avoid the formation of water pockets or interfere with the
mobility of the unit. The covering material should be of sufficient strength
to preclude rupture or tearing when exposed to conditions encountered
during open transportation.
