2. MAJOR COMPONENTS:
A. General Description:
The Model RJ150 unit is self-contained and does not require an external
electrical power source. The unit is operable under an ambient temperature
range of -40
°
F to 125
°
F (-40
°
C to 52
°
C), or at a relative humidity up to 100%.
The unit operates efficiently at altitudes ranging from sea level to 8,000 feet
(2,440 m). (Refer to Section 1-3, Specifications and Capabilities)
B. Chassis:
A steel frame base supports the unit. Forklift tineways are integrated into the
chassis frame to facilitate shipping/lifting the unit. The weather-resistant upper
canopy enclosure consists of an aluminum upper frame and aluminum sheet
metal enclosure panels with hinged latching doors for inspection, service, and
repair access. Pre-conditioned air (PCA) hose storage tray is mounted on the
rear of the unit. (See Figure 1)
C. Tow Bar and Running Gear:
The unit includes forward trunnion-mounted dual wheel set, a fixed rear axle,
and an industry-standard tow bar with towing ring. The trunnion axle includes
brakes that lock when the tow bar is raised and released when the tow bar is
lowered for towing.
D. Engine/Generator Set (Genset) Assembly:
The engine/generator set (genset) (See Figure 1 and Figure 2) consists of a
Diesel-powered engine directly coupled to a 60Hz generator, a Genset
Control Panel, and Output Junction Box. An electro-mechanical governor
maintains engine speed for consistent voltage output under varying loads.
The basic genset functions are similar for all genset configurations. Refer to
Section 1-3, Unit configuration Matrix, for specific unit configurations. Refer to
appropriate Supplemental Technical Manuals as required for detailed genset
descriptions.
