7.
Have the customer record Serial over LAN (SOL) setting of the chassis and Serial over LAN setting
of the compute node. Complete the following steps:
a.
Access the Chassis Management Module (CMM) web interface. For instructions, see Ethernet
connection (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/flexsys/information/topic/
com.ibm.acc.cmm.doc/remote_console_ethernet_connect_cmm.html).
b.
To record the Serial over LAN setting of the chassis, complete the following steps:
1)
From the menu bar, click Chassis Management.
2)
From the Chassis Management list, click Compute Nodes.
3)
Click the Global Settings button.
4)
In the Global Node Settings window, click the Serial Over LAN tab.
5)
Record the Enable Serial Over LAN check box setting.
6)
Click cancel to close the Global Node Settings window.
c.
To record the Serial over LAN setting of the compute node, complete the following steps:
1)
From the Device Name list, click the compute node name to access the property tabs for the
compute node.
2)
Click the General tab.
3)
Record the Enable Serial Over LAN check box setting.
8.
Have the customer record the VIOS boot device. If multiple devices are mapped to the VIOS, record
the current device.
Note:
Boot device information is stored in the service processor of the system board and it must be
manually restored after the system board is replaced with a new system board.
Enter the following commands in the padmin shell of each VIOS partition:
v
oem_setup_env
v
bootlist –m normal –o –v
These commands provide the device tree path. Record the output information. This information will
be used in step 30 on page 90 of this procedure.
9.
Have the customer shut down the operating system on all partitions of the compute node, and turn
off the compute node.
10.
Remove the compute node from the IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis. See “Removing the
compute node from an IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis” on page 31.
11.
Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, with the cover side up.
12.
Open and remove the compute node cover. See “Removing the compute node cover” on page 33.
13.
Remove the bezel assembly. Locate the bezel on the right-side at the front of the compute node.
Holding both sides of the bezel assembly, pull the bezel assembly away from the compute node as
shown in Figure 48 on page 86.
