26.
Is the compute node managed by a management console?
Yes
Continue with step 27.
No
Have the customer turn on the compute node, then continue with step 32 on page 90.
27.
Have the customer complete the following steps:
a.
Access the ASMI. For information about how to access the ASMI, see Chapter 5, “Accessing the
service processor,” on page 27.
b.
Click Power/Restart Control > Power On/Off System.
c.
Record the current setting in the Server firmware start policy field.
d.
Change the Server firmware start policy setting to Standby (User-Initiated).
e.
Click Save Settings and Power on.
28.
If the compute node has VIOS installed or uses more than one partition, have the customer restore
partition profile data by using one of the following methods:
v
If this system is managed by an FSM, ensure that the compute node is displayed on the Manage
Power Systems Resource
page. If the compute node is not displayed, complete the following
actions in sequence, as needed:
a.
Collect inventory on the chassis and request access. See Collecting inventory
(http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/flexsys/information/topic/com.ibm.acc.8731.doc/
com.ibm.director.discovery.helps.doc/fqm0_t_collecting_inventory.html).
b.
If the compute node is still not displayed, reseat the compute node. See Removing the compute
node from an IBM Flex System Enterprise Chassis (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/
flexsys/information/topic/com.ibm.acc.7895.doc/removing_the_blade_server.html). Once the
FSM discovers the compute node, collect inventory on the chassis, and then request access
again. See Collecting inventory (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/flexsys/information/
topic/com.ibm.acc.8731.doc/com.ibm.director.discovery.helps.doc/
fqm0_t_collecting_inventory.html).
c.
After the compute node is displayed on the Manage Power Systems Resource page, click
Hosts
. The compute node should have a state of Error with a detailed state of Recovery. This
state indicates that the profile data of the node must be recovered from the FSM. Recover the
partition profile data. For instructions, see Correcting a Recovery state for a server
(http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/flexsys/information/topic/
com.ibm.acc.psm.troubleshooting.doc/
dpsm_troubleshooting_managedsystemstate_recovery.html).
Note:
The compute node is turned on as part of the recovery process.
v
If this system is managed by an HMC, complete the following steps:
a.
Log in to the HMC.
b.
Click Systems Management > Servers.
c.
If the compute node displays Failed Authentication in the Status column and Incorrect
password in the Reference code column, select the compute node and use the Update
Password task to enter the correct password for the USERID user ID. After you have entered a
correct password, the compute node displays Recovery in the Status column.
d.
Recover the partition profile data. For instructions, see Correcting a Recovery state for a
managed system (http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/powersys/v3r1m5/topic/p7eav/
aremanagedsystemstate_recovery.htm).
Note:
The compute node is turned on as part of the recovery process.
v
If this system is managed by an IVM, turn on the compute node, then restore the partition profile
data. Using the IVM command line, enter the rstprofdata command. For more information about
the rstprofdata command, see IVM rstprofdata command (http://www.ibm.com/support/
knowledgecenter/api/content/nl/en-us/POWER7/p7hcg/rstprofdata.htm).
