REASSEMBLY
NOTE
Before reassembling all components, they should be carefully washed and dried
with compressed air.
Required tools:
- 12-, 18- and 19-mm Allen wrench;
- 21-mm socket wrench;
- proper tool to block the damper body, part no. R5081AA;
- oil seal pusher, part no. R5080AC.
Tightening torque for rebound bumper: 30 Nm
Tightening torque for foot screw: 50 Nm
Tightening torque for damper rod plug: 10 Nm
Tightening torque for plug check nut: 30 Nm
Tightening torque for slider plug: 25 Nm
1- Damping unit reassembly
FIG.32
Insert the rod with the pumping element into the damper body (30). For a
smoother insertion, press the ring (35) of the piston (36) with your hand and fit
into the damper body.
Pull out the rod (32) from the damper body top (30).
FIG. 33
Insert the rod (32) and the lower bushing (29) of the rebound bumper from the
keyed side and push it down beyond the rod groove. Fit the stop ring (27) into
the rod groove (32).
FIG. 34
Position the lower bushing (29) so that it rests against the stop ring (27) and then
fit the floating bushing (28) into the rod from the side with oil holes.
Insert the upper bushing (26) and screw it with the lower one.
Keep the upper bushing with the 18-mm wrench and tighten the lower bushing at
the indicated torque.
FIG. 35
Insert the spring guide (24) into the rod (32) from the side with smaller diameter.
IMPORTANT: if the spring guide is improperly fitted, the fork end of stroke during
compression will be defective. Tighten the check nut (23) on the damper rod by
hand.
2- Foot valve and damping unit reassembly
FIG.36
Lubricate the ORs (44) on the piston (45) and the foot screw (47).
Push the damper unit (previously reassembled) until it rests against the stanchion
tube and insert the foot valve (41) by hand.
Insert the tool with part no. R5081AA into the rod to keep the damper body (30),
then tighten the foot screw (47) as indicated.
3- Slider and stanchion reassembly
To assembly the seal unit on the slider and the slider on the stanchion follow the
instructions of paragraph “3-Oil seal change”, chapter “MAINTENANCE” from
