Basics
of
Sequential
Sampling
The
number
of
points
in
a
complete
acquisition
sequence
is
known
as
the
record
length.
Normally
,
optimum
record
length
is
automatically
selected
by
the
instrument,
but
it
can
be
set
manually
to
any
value
between
16
and
4096
points
by
selecting
the
Record
Length
softkey
in
the
A
cquisition
menu.
Figure
13-3
shows
a
waveform
acquired
with
a
record
length
of
64,
while
Figure
13-4
shows
the
same
waveform
acquired
with
a
record
length
of
2250.
In
most
cases
,
record
length
should
be
left
on
automatic.
Histogram
measurements
,
in
particular
,
are
susceptible
to
errors
with
a
non-optimum
record
length.
