Removing and replacing a Smart Array controller
CAUTION: Before replacing the component due to a perceived hardware error, make sure first that the component
is firmly seated in the slot. Do not bend or flex circuit boards when reseating components.
Prerequisites
• Before you perform this procedure, ensure that you have T-15 Torx screwdriver is available.
• Determine if there are temperature requirements for the component. For more information, see
• Depending on the chassis configuration and the component being installed in the server, it might be necessary to limit

Procedure
2. Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server.
3. Remove the server from the chassis.
5. If a secondary PCIe riser cage is installed, remove the bayonet board.
6. Do one of the following:
•
Remove the secondary riser blank.
•
Remove the secondary riser cage.
7. If replacing the expansion board installed in slot 1, remove the primary PCIe riser cage.
8. Disconnect the Mini-SAS cable and controller backup power cable from the controller.
9. Remove the Smart Array controller from the PCIe riser cage.
