3.12 DEMOLITION AND DISPOSAL
When scrapping the machine, it must be disposed of in adequate landfills, complying with current legislation.
Before scrapping the machine, thoroughly clean the equipment washing it inside and out. It is prohibited to drain wash
water into the environment without precautions as it pollutes the groundwater.
Recover any used oils and dispose of them in specific collection facilities.
ATTENTION
Waste oil must be appropriately recovered and must not be released into the environment as, according to
legal standards in force, it is classified as dangerous waste and as such must be brought to specific collection
facilities.
For the collection of waste oil, it is mandatory to contact the “Consorzio Obbligatorio Oli Usati” [Mandatory Waste Oil
Consortium].
Before scrapping the machine, separate the parts which can be recovered, pursuant to Ministerial Decree 5 February
1998.
The following is non-hazardous special waste:
• Ferrous materials, aluminium, stainless steel, copper.
• Plastic materials.
• Tyres and rubber in general.
• Circuit boards.
• Electric material.
3.12.1 GUIDELINES FOR SUITABLE TREATMENT OF WASTE
The correct management of special waste entails:
• Storage in suitable places, avoiding mixing hazardous with non-hazardous waste.
• Transport and disposal/recovery of the same by authorised carriers and recipients.
Transporting your own waste to authorised collection facilities is only permitted if registered at the National Register of
Environmental Managers.
3.12.2 STORING EMPTY PACKAGING
The plant protection product container however washed properly and correctly, should still be regarded as potentially
dangerous waste. It is therefore recommended to collect it in suitably marked and water-tight sacks. These sacks shall
be stored inside the premises used for pesticide storage and then conveyed for suitable disposal.
ATTENTION
Some products require special precautions. Always be updated on the standards in force regarding the use of
chemical products and decontamination methods. If you have doubts, refer to the Competent Authorities.
3.12.3 WASTE OF ELECTRIC AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT (WEEE)
With the Italian Legislative Decree of 25 July 2005 no. 151, the Italian Government implemented the directives of the
European Parliament relating to waste electric and electronic equipment (WEEE) (Directive 2002/95/EC and 2003/108/
EC).
In particular the decree establishes measures and procedures aimed at:
• Preventing the production of WEEE.
• Promoting the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of WEEE, in order to reduce the amount of waste.
• Improving, from an environmental standpoint, the intervention of individuals who participate in the life cycle of this
equipment (manufacturers, distributors, consumers and operators directly involved in the treatment of WEEE).
•
Reducing the use of hazardous substances in electric and electronic equipment.
The decree lays down the limitation and elimination of some substances found in WEEE.
It bans: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ether.
