Auto-Tuning
To select a VOR/localizer/ILS frequency:
1. If the tuning cursor is not currently in the VLOC
window, press the
small left
knob momen-
tarily.
2. Turn the
large left
knob to select the desired
megahertz (MHz) value. For example, the
“117” portion of the frequency “117.80”.
3. Turn the
small left
knob to select the desired
kilohertz (kHz) value. For example, the “.80”
portion of the frequency “117.80”.
4. To make the standby frequency the active
frequency, press the
VLOC flip-flop
key.
Auto-Tuning
A frequency may also be quickly selected from the
database by simply highlighting the desired frequency
on the
VOR page
or the
nearest VOR page
and pressing
the
ENT
key. This process is referred to as
auto-tuning
.
Once a frequency is selected in the standby field, it
may be transferred to the active frequency by press-
ing the
VLOC flip-flop
key. (Auto-tuning can also
be performed from VLOC frequencies listed on the
NAVCOM
,
airport frequency
, and
nearest flight service
station
pages.)
To select a VLOC frequency from the VOR or near-
est VOR pages:
1. Select the desired page from the main pages.
(See page references on the preceding page.)
2. Press the
small right
knob momentarily to
activate the flashing cursor.
3. Turn the
large right
knob to highlight the
frequency for the desired VOR.
4. Press
ENT
to place the frequency in the standby
field of the VLOC window.
5. Press the
VLOC flip-flop
key to activate the
selected frequency.
