GUIDE SLOPING GROUND
Have this guide in sight and keep it straight by xing it vertically to a tree,
the edge of a structure, a telegraph pole or a fence.
Handle a manual or naval mower
from the slope, never in a bottom-up
movement.
Handle a riding mower

If using a riding mower, determine if the slope can be safely mowed: (1) disengage the blade(s), (2) reverse, and (3)
descend the slope. If the slope can be descended without any problems, it can be mowed safely. However, if you do
not feel safe or secure, use this Guide and do not mow a slope having more than 15 degrees of inclination. If the riding
mower is used with a towed attachment, do not mow a slope having more than 10 degrees of inclination.
A 15-degree slope consists in a hill with a height increases from about 0.70 to 3.04 metres.
A slope of 10 degrees is a hill having a height increases from about 0.40 to 3.04 meters.
Be very careful at all times and avoid changing direction or manoeuvring abruptly. Follow the other
instructions in this Manual to mow slopes safely. Handle a riding mower in a top-down movement, never
down the slope. Handle a manual mower down the slope, never in a top-down movement. Be particularly
careful when working close to slopes or obstacles.
