MAINTENANCE
CHECK AND ADJUST THE BRAKE
Fully press the clutch/brake pedal. Apply the handbrake. Place
the gearshift in neutral position (N). Push the unit. If the rear
wheels rotate, adjust or replace the brake pads as follows:
1. The brake pads are located on the left side of the gearbox
(Figure 19).
2. Make sure the handbrake is on and the gearshift on N. Screw
the hex nut clockwise until the rear wheels stop rotating when
the unit is pushed forward.
3. Release the handbrake and push the unit. If the latter does not
roll, screw the hex nut counter-clockwise until the unit rolls.
4. Apply the handbrake. Push the unit. If the rear wheels do not
rotate, the brake is properly adjusted. Release the handbrake.
CAUTION: If you cannot adjust the brake correctly,
replace the brake pads. Appropriate spare parts and
support are available in an Authorized Service
Centre.
CLUTCH CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT
If the drive belt is released, the clutch slips while (1) climbing, (2)
pulling heavy loads or (3) the unit does not move.
Adjust the clutch as follows:
7. If the belt continues to slip after adjusting the clutch, the drive belt is worn or
damaged and should be replaced. See the relevant Instructions.
CAUTION: Before performing any check,
adjustment or repairing the unit, please disconnect
to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.
1. Check the routing of the drive belt. Make sure that the belt is
correctly installed and inserted into the guide arms.
2. Remove the cotter pin, gasket and brake spring from the
adjustable nut (Figure 20).
3. Remove the adjustable nut from the brake lever assembly .
4. Align the brake lever cavity with the back of the slot in the
frame .
5. Push the clutch rod backwards. Screw the adjustable nut
until it fits into the cavity in the brake lever .
6. Assemble the adjustable nut to the lever and spring brake .
Tighten with the gasket and cotter pin .
