configure mpls edge-service-mode
configure mpls slot <slot> edge-service-mode [vlan | port]
Description
Configures MPLS Layer 2 edge service mode for MPLS H-VPLS port mode.
Syntax Description
Default
edge-service-mode - vlan
Usage Guidelines
This command configures the MPLS Layer 2 edge service mode for all ports associated with the module
in the specified slot. The keyword
edge-service-mode
is used to specify how customer interfaces are
identified. The keyword
vlan
configures the module in the specified slot so that customer traffic is
identified by the received packet's 802.1q tag. The keyword
port
configures the module in the specified
slot so that customer traffic is identified based on the port that the packet was received. Port mode
configured ports are implicitly defined as customer facing Layer 2 service ports. Thus, MPLS cannot be
enabled on these ports. The default
edge-service-mode
is vlan.
Ports configured in different modes cannot send traffic between them without the use of the MPLS
module. That is, traffic received on a port that is configured in vlan mode cannot switch traffic directly
to a port on a module that is configured in port mode, and vice versa. Thus, ports configured in
different modes cannot be members of the same VLAN or VPLS. VPLS ingress traffic can be received on
a port that is in port mode and label switched out a port that is configured in vlan mode. Traffic
received on ports in port mode is also switched directly to local egress ports that are members of the
same VPLS. Configured VLANs for ports in vlan mode cannot conflict with core (or provider) network
interior VLANs configured within the same switch.
Changing the
edge-service-mode
will disrupt traffic for all ports on the module in the specified slot.
Example
The following command configures the edge service mode for slot 1, vlan ID 10:
config mpls slot 1 edge-service-mode 10
