In the default configuration of the 8900-10G24X-c I/O module, all ports:
•
Are added to the default VLAN as untagged
•
Inherit the properties of the default VLAN (for example, protocol type and VLANid)
The 8900-10G24X-c I/O module has the following LEDs:
•
Module status
•
Module diagnostics
•
Port status
For information about the LEDs and their activity on the 8900-10G24X-c I/O module, see

on page 35.
8900-40G6X-xm I/O Module
The 8900-40G6X-xm I/O module (
see the following figure
) has six unpopulated QSFP+-based 40-
gigabit Ethernet ports. Each physical port can operate in either of the following modes:
•
One 40-Gbps port
•
Four 10-Gbps ports
Figure 25: 8900-40G6X-xm I/O Module
1 = Module and port LEDs
2 = QSFP+ ports
When the ports are operating in 40-Gbps mode, the ports are numbered (from left to right) 1, 5, 9, 13, 17,
and 21. Other port numbers are displayed as “not available.” When a port is configured to operate in 10-
Gbps mode, all four port numbers associated with that physical port are displayed as being available.
The default mode for the ports is 40-Gbps operation. To configure a port for 10-Gbps operation, use the
configure ports partition command.
Depending on the specific MSMs present in the switch, the 8900-40G6X-xm module is oversubscribed
in the following ratios:
