17 FC BERT Test Setup and Results
The Fibre Channel feature provides the capability to perform tests on Fibre
Channel networks. In the Fibre Channel network, multiple servers and
storage devices can be accessed in a shared network. In the Fibre Channel
Test and Measurement product, a BERT test can be performed on the local
and remote fibre channel ports using the point-to-point or fabric topology.
Fibre Channel has five layers. FTB-1 supports Fibre Channel only for Layer
2. Layer 2 or FC-2 is the network link. This layer carries data and controls
the flow of the data. This layer is mainly responsible for Link and Login
management.
