About This Guide
This guide describes how to mount, connect, power-up, and maintain an
Aurorean™ Virtual Network system from Enterasys Networks. Two types of
Aurorean systems are available:
!
The Aurorean Policy Server (APS) which maintains Aurorean Virtual
Network configuration settings and coordinates remote user
authentication. Policy Servers are available in two models: the
APS-3000 for small- to medium-sized networks and the APS-7000 for
large enterprise networks.
!
The Aurorean Network Gateway (ANG) which terminates secure tunnel
connections from remote users and another ANG. Network
Gateways are available in three models: the ANG-1100 for up to 25
tunnels in a home or small office, the ANG-3000 for small- to
medium-sized networks (up to 500 simultaneous tunnels) and the
ANG-7000 for large enterprise networks (up to 5000 simultaneous
tunnels).
Because Aurorean systems share many of the same physical traits, this guide
contains installation instructions for all types and models.
The guide is written for network administrators who are responsible for
implementing and maintaining an enterprise virtual private network (VPN)
solution. The guide assumes you have experience installing network devices
such as routers, hubs, and file servers.
