Viewing Communications Failures

To view the log of communications
failures select Window, Show
communications failures.

A log of all failures encountered
during the current Master Unit session
will be displayed.

Use Save to save the error messages as Text Files. The file will contain information required to
analyse the failure. Use the text files if support is required when contacting Elster Metering Systems
about communications failures.

8.6 Networking

the

Power Master Unit

Client PC running

Power Master Unit Software

Server PC with

Communications Server installed

The Power Master Unit can communicate
over a network by installing the
Communications Server on a remote PC and
sharing the directory. The file location must be
set in the Communications Server Setup.

Setting the File Paths

At the Server PC:

Install the Communications Server in the required directory and share the directory including the
Script, Result and Log subdirectories with the Client PC

Select the Communications Server Setup and change the Script, Log and Results path to the
correct location on the Server PC

At the Client PC:

Connect to the share on the remote PC running the Communications Server

Select the Communications Server Setup from the System Menu and set the Script, Log and Results
path to the correct location on the Server PC

Note:

To allow communications from a number

of Power Master Units

connected to a network,

the Communications Server must be left running when it is installed on a remote drive.
