The product wash module has the ability to aspirate the plate with different sweep modes.
a)
No Sweep
There is no side sweep and the well is aspirated only from the center.
b)
Sweep
On each cycle of the plate, the well is aspirated while the wash head moves left to right.
c)
Sweep on Last Cycle
On the last dispense cycle of the plate only the well is aspirated while the wash head
moves left to right. For previous cycles no sweep setting are used.
d)
Super sweep
On each cycle of the plate, the well is aspirated by moving the head using a 5-point sweep
of the well (central and four points around the edge of the well).
e)
Super Sweep on last Cycle.
Only on the last dispense cycle of the plate, the well is aspirated by moving the head using
a 5-point sweep of the well (central and 4 points around the edge of the well).
The user may specify a wash soak time (time fluid is left in the well before being aspirated).
a)
Soak at end of cycle
A soak period is specified to be performed at the end of each programmed wash cycle.
b)
Synchronized Soak
A synchronized soak is specified. This soak functions in Strip-Wise wash mode and
calculates a soak delay for washing each strip from the time it takes to perform the
pipette-to-plate operation on each strip. As an example it takes one minute to pipette
samples to the first strip of a microplate (A1-H1) when the wash performs a 3-cycle wash
programmed via strip-wise mode. If it takes 30 seconds to perform the three dispense
cycles to the first strip, the washer will delay starting the wash operation on the second
strip for a further 30 seconds. This synchronizes the start of the wash of each strip to the
time taken to pipette each strip.
The washer has an option to perform a final cycle of the plate that performs only an
aspiration operation of the plate. This is designed to remove all the liquid present in the
well and uses the sweep mode used for the last cycle of the wash operation programmed.
