32-bit
The length of the internal data path of the CPU.
802.3
An Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standard
describing the physical and data link layers of a local area network based
on bus topology and carrier sense multiple access/collision detect (CSMA
/CD).
application program
A program, such as a financial spreadsheet program, that performs an
end-user task.
ASCII
American Standard Code for Information Interchange. A set of 7- or 8-bit
binary numbers representing the alphabet, punctuation, numerals, and
other special symbols used in text representation and communications
protocol.
barrel connector
A female connector for connecting two sections of ThinWire cable.
baud rate
The speed at which signals are serially transmitted along a
communications line. One baud equals one bit/second.
binary
A number system that uses two digits—0 and 1. They are represented
in system circuitry by two voltage levels, and programs are executed in
binary form.
bit
A binary digit; the smallest unit of information in a binary system of
notation, designated as a 0 or a 1.
