If any transceivers are installed in the uplink module, remove them before you remove
the uplink module. For instructions on removing transceivers, see “Removing a
Transceiver from a J-EX Series Switch” on page 137.
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
• Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
•
Phillips screwdriver, number 2
•
A replacement uplink module or cover panel
• An antistatic bag or antistatic mat
CAUTION: Do not leave the uplink module slot empty for a long time while
the switch is operational. Either replace the uplink module promptly or install
a cover panel over the empty slot.
To remove an uplink module from the switch (see Figure 56 on page 132):
1.
Attach the electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and
connect the strap to the ESD point on the chassis.
2.
Loosen the captive screws in the ejector levers using the Phillips screwdriver, number 2.
3.
Pull both the ejector levers outward until they are fully open.
4.
Using both hands, gently pull the ejector levers to slide the uplink module halfway out
of the chassis.
5.
Using both hands, hold the front edge of the uplink module and slide it completely
out of the chassis.
6.
Place the uplink module in an antistatic bag or on an antistatic mat placed on a flat,
stable surface.
