To install a power supply in the switch (see Figure 34 on page 89):
1.
Ensure that you have the correct power supply:
•
Match the label on the power supply with the label on the fan tray, and verify that
both say
EXHAUST
or both say
INTAKE
.
• Match the arrow on the power supply's ejector lever with the arrows on the fan tray
handles, and verify that they are pointing in the same direction.
See “AC Power Supply in J-EX4500 Switches” on page 21.
CAUTION: Operating the switch with an incorrect power supply might
cause the chassis to overheat.
2.
Attach the electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and
connect the strap to the ESD point on the chassis.
3.
If the power supply slot has a cover panel on it, pull the handle of the cover panel
outwards and remove it. Save the cover panel for later use.
4.
Taking care not to touch power supply pins, leads, or solder connections, remove the
power supply from the bag.
5.
Using both hands, place the power supply in the power supply slot on the rear panel
of the switch and slide it in until it is fully seated. You will hear a distinct click sound
when the power supply is fully seated n the chassis.
