CAUTION
To help prevent transmission dam-
age ;
• Do not depress the accelerator
pedal while shifting from "P" or "N"
to "R", "D
4
", "D
3
", "2", or "1". Al-
ways depress the brake pedal until
shifting is completed.
• Do not drive in "2" for more than 8
km or at speeds over 90 km/h.
Use "D
4
" as much as possible.
• Never shift to "P (Park)" or "R (Re-
verse)" while the vehicle is in mo-
tion.
Shift to "P" or "R" only after ve-
hicle is stopped completely.
• When stopping the vehicle on an
uphill gradient, do not hold the
vehicle by depressing the accelera-
tor pedal. The foot brakes should
be used for this purpose.
Selector lever lock
Push the release button located on the side of
the selector grip when engaging "R"(Reverse)
and "P"(Park) and shifting from "D

" to "D

Starting the Car
•
After starting the engine, fully depress
the foot brake pedal before shifting the
selector lever to the "D
4
", "R", "D
3
", "2"
or "1" position. Be sure the vehicle is
fully stopped before attempting to shift
the selector lever into "R" or "P".
1. Keep the foot brake pedal depressed
and shift into a driving gear.
2. Release the parking brake and foot
brake. Depressing the accelerator pedal
slowly will gradually set the vehicle in
motion.

: Push the release button to shift.
: Shift freely.
