7–14 SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
DRIVE BELT
Proper condition and correct tension are
essential for the correct function of the al-
ternator.
If the belt is worn, cracked or frayed, re-
place it. To check the belt tension, apply
moderate thumb pressure (approximately
10kg) midway between pulleys, check the
deflection. The deflection should be about
10mm. If the belt is too loose, have it adjusted
by your Daewoo Dealer or Daewoo Autho-
rized Service Operation.
WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID
Use the specified windshield washer so-
lution.
CAUTION
• Do not use radiator antifreeze in
windshield washer. It can damage
the washer system and paint.
• Do not mix water with washer fluid.
Water can cause the solution to
freeze and damage washer fluid
tank and other parts of washer sys-
tem.
• Fill washer fluid tank only 3/4 full
when it is very cold. This allows for
expansion, which could damage
the tank if it is completely full.
WARNING
Driving without washer fluid can be
dangerous.
Check your washer fluid level before
starting to drive.
WARNING
The engine could inadvertently start
while checking the belt and cause
moving parts to crush or cut.
Remove key from ignition switch.
