WIND-TWIST
operator’s manual
TROUBLE SHOOTING
The yarn breaks
Speed too fast for yarn count.
➥
Reduce the speed using the potentiometer, remembering that when this is done dur-
ing winding or twisting operations a minor deformation of the cone may be caused.
Excessive yarn braking.
➥
Slacken off pressure on the yarn tensioners and, if necessary, use only one, setting
the other one to zero pressure.
Yarn threading not correct.
➥
Check that the yarn has been threaded correctly.
Cone support spindle does not turn freely (10 fi g.7)
➥
Clean away yarn or fl uff. With the cone installed the spindle should turn freely.
Otherwise loosen the two screws under the spindle mount and re-lock the spindle in
position, moving it slightly to the left.
Feeder rotates in the opposite direction from that of the yarn because of incorrect
threading (8 fi g.8)
➥
Follow the threading instructions.
The cone is too soft and the yarn guide is touching the cone.
➥
Increase yarn braking and rotate the counterweight to opposite the spindle.
Feeder malfunction
➥
Check that the feeder belt has not come out of the pulley grooves.
Clean and reassemble correctly.
The yarn guide drops the yarn or snaps it on the cone
➥
Adjust the position of the yarn guide (1 fi g.8) so that the taut yarn barely touches
the bottom bushing. The gap between the yarn guide and the base of the cone
should be 4.5 - 5 mm.
Yarn sensor malfunction
➥
If the head continues to rotate without one of the 2 yarns spooled off the two rear
cone mounts, this indicates a yarn sensor malfunction. Check that the sensor is con-
nected properly and replace it if necessary.
In case of winding, check that both sensors are disabled (sensor green and red LEDs
both off). Otherwise, pass a fi nger near to the sensor next to the LED. In twisting
mode, the 2 sensors are tripped automatically when the yarn passes through them.
Defective or deformed cones
Operator changed some parameter(s) while the cone was being made, eg. crossover
angle, speed, braking, threading
➥
Do not make any parameter adjust from the time cone begins until it is completed.
Fluff under the yarn brake plate
➥
Clean both sides of the plates.
Cones too dense.
➥
Excess braking will make the cone bounce. Slacken off the yarn brakes or reduce
