WIND-TWIST
operator’s manual
ATTENTION!
To stop the machine under emergency conditions:
- fl ip the emergency switch
- remove the plug from the power socket.
- cut off the pneumatic air supply system by disconnecting the shut-off valve (quick
coupling).
During all working procedures, keep hands far away from the yarn guide and roller to
prevent accidents.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Starting the machine
a) Check to make sure that oil reaches the sight level glass (1 fi g.7) in the head.
In order to top up, remove the upper panel (2 fi g.7).
b) Switch the machine on by means of the master switch (3-4 fi g.7).
c) Set the desired working speed with the speed potentiometer (5-7 fi g.7) after having
chosen the crossover angle (1 or 2) (8 fi g.7).
Cross-over angle
Depending on the type of yarn, winding can be carried out with crossover angle 1 (16°)
or 2 (13°). Each head has a lever (8 fi g.7) for setting this angle.
The crossover angle should only be changed with the head running.
Normally crossover 1 (16°) is used with thin or slippery yarn.
General operating pointers
To ensure even cones, never make adjustments (speed, crossover angle, yarn braking,
waxing, threading) while the cones are being made.
Do not make the cones too soft, since they can bend and interfere with the yarn guide
(1 Fig. 8) and break the yarn or bend the yarn guide out of shape.
Description of the machine
The machine has two assemblies: one for winding and one for twisting the yarn (fi g. 4).
The winding assembly is composed of a winding head and yarn guide identical to
those used on traditional CORGHI winders, while the twisting assembly is composed
of a motorised hollow spindle.
The Wind-Twist can thus be used either as a yarn twister or cone-to-cone winder with
the same performance as a traditional winder.
