Re-authentication mechanism:
S
supports re-authentication mechanism. Re-authentication mechanism refers to switch request client’s username and
password for re-authentication after some time interval. If re-authentication is successful, client can use the network. If not, switch
think client is offline and cut off the client from network to avoid the waste of network resources.
802.1X port status:
There are 4 port status of
S
during 802.1x authentication:
N/A: 802.1X authentication function close in this status, this port can forward data stream normally.
Force-Unauth: users under this port can not visit network or be authenticated in this status.
Force-auth: users under this port can visit network without authentication in this status.
Auto: All users under this port must pass 802.1X authentication before they can visit network in this status. If user need
authenticate, generally port is set to auto status.
802.1X transparent transmission:
S
supports 802.1X transparent transmission function. The switch supports 802.1X authentication is the up-level switch of
S
. Host which connected to
S
needs to transfer EAPOL data frame to up-level switch to realize authentication
function. In this situation, the port of up-level switch that connected with
S
must be set as transparent transmission port.
Notice: 802.1X function contradict with MAC address binding function. When port opens 802.1X function, this port can not be
configured with MAC address binding and vice versa.
Notice: only 1-24 ports of
S
support 802.1X authentication. 25, 26 ports does not support 802.1X authentication.

1 Preparation
The first step in getting started in using Web-based management for your Switch is to secure a browser such as Microsoft
Internet Explorer (Simply called IE). Furthermore, the browser must support JavaScript Script. For the best effect, we suggest
you to use IE 5.0 or above version. If you use Netscape browser, make sure it is the newest version.
Before getting start, you must finish some preparing steps. We choose IE 5.0 in Windows XP to be an example.
