flat p o r t i o n o f th e e n l a r g e d h o le in the e y e b o l t ( ite m 2).
T h e o u t e r e n d o f e a c h r e l e a s e l e v e r e n g a g e s the p re ss u re
p l a t e lu g b y m e a n s o f a strut (3), w h i c h p r o v i d e s k n i f e -
e d g e c o n t a c t b e t w e e n the o u t e r e n d o f th e le v e r a n d the
lu g . T h e o u t e r e n d s o f the e y e b o l t s e x t e n d t h r o u g h holes
in th e s t a m p e d c o v e r (4), a n d a re fitted w i t h a d j u s t i n g
n u ts (5) to c o r r e c t l y p o sit io n the lev ers.
W h e n th e c lu t c h s y ste m is f u l l y e n g a g e d , th e c lu tch
d is c is fir m ly c l a m p e d b e t w e e n the f l y w h e e l a n d the
p r e s s u r e p l a t e b y the p re ss u re o f the s p r in g s . W h e n the
d r i v e r d i s e n g a g e s th e c lu tch b y d e p r e s s i n g the p e d a l , the
r e l e a s e f o r k is m o v e d o n its p i v o t , a n d the p re ss u re is
a p p l i e d to the t h r o w - o u t b e a r i n g . T h e r o t a t i n g ra c e o f
the t h r o w - o u t b e a r i n g p re sse s a g a i n s t the c lu tch re lea s e
le v e r s a n d m o v e s t h e m o n their p i v o t p in s . T h e o u t e r
e n d s o f th e re le a s e levers, b e i n g f a s t e n e d to the c o v e r,
m o v e the p re ss u re p la t e to the re ar, c o m p r e s s i n g the
c lu t c h s p r i n g s a n d a l l o w i n g d r i v i n g m e m b e r s to ro ta te
