6. Spectrum analyzer (optional)
The spectrum analyzer function of 4992A is designed for the RF ANT and T/R port. The user can
select the appropriate port for input of the tested signal, according to the power range of the input
signal. Except the RF source, the spectrum analyzer cannot be enabled at the same time with other
meter functions.

Window opening: open the spectrum analyzer window by pressing the [Measurement] hard
key and setting the instrument menu. Press the [Full Screen] hard key in the lower part of the
screen to maximize the window, as shown in Fig. 4-11.

Menu calling: click the touch screen, select the spectrum analyzer as the current active
window, and the corresponding menu will be displayed in the right side of the window, as
shown in Fig. 4-11.Measurement setting:

Setting of input port: click the [Input Port] soft key in the right menu, and select the
appropriate input port for input of the tested signal, according the power range of the
input signal.

Frequency setting: estimate the frequency of the input signal, click the [Center
Frequency] soft key in the right menu, and set the center frequency.

Setting of frequency step: in order to change the center frequency more easily, click the
[Set Center Frequency Step] soft key in the right menu, and enter the center frequency
step with hard keys in the number zone, or change the center frequency step with the
knob, [↑] or [↓]. Note that the step value is 1, 3, or 5 when changed with the knob, [↑] or
[↓].

Setting of reference level: click the [Reference] soft key in the right menu, and enter the
reference level with hard keys in the number zone, or change the reference level with the
knob, [↑] or [↓]. Note that the step is 10dBm when changed with the knob, [↑] or [↓].

Setting of sweep width: click the [Sweep Width] soft key in the right menu and enter the
sweep width value with hard keys in the number zone, or change the sweep width with
the knob, [↑] or [↓]. Note that the step is 1, 3 or 5 when changed with the knob, [↑] or
[↓].

Setting of resolution bandwidth: click the [Resolution Bandwidth] soft key in the right
menu and enter the resolution bandwidth value with hard keys in the number zone, or
change the resolution bandwidth with the knob, [↑] or [↓]. Note that the step is 1, 3 or 5
when changed with the knob, [↑] or [↓]. The maximum resolution bandwidth is 30kHz.
