Power setting: select the T/R or ANT port under [Input Port] of the [Receiver Setting]
menu for input of the tested signal, according to the power of the tested power.
Frequency setting: set the receiver frequency as the frequency of the tested signal in the
[Receiver Setting] menu. The user can set the [Center Frequency Step] and change the
frequency with the UP and DOWN key and the knob.
Reference setting: estimate the level amplitude of the tested signal and set the reference
level of the receiver in the [Receiver Setting] menu, thus providing an appropriate gain
channel for the input signal.
IF bandwidth setting: click the [IF Bandwidth] soft key in the right [Receiver Setting]
menu. The setting range of the IF bandwidth is 5kHz to 600kHz, divided into 11 levels.
Set the IF bandwidth according to the receiver setting. The maximum capture range of
the instrument is
300kHz. As the time base of the instrument is different from the
external time base, the difference arising from the time base should be taken into
consideration in bandwidth setting on the premise that the center frequency setting
conforms to the requirements. According to the measured frequency error and the signal
capture range, select the minimum IF bandwidth to obtain more accurate measurement
results.
Automatic search setting: 4992A has the function of automatic search. The input signal
of the port can be searched automatically for conveniences of testing of unknown
frequency signals. Click “Automatic Search” in the window or [Automatic Search] in
the [Receiver Setting] menu to enable the function of automatic search.
Measurement result display: the measured RF frequency error is the real-time frequency
deviation. Therefore, the averaging of measurement results can be set according to the
stability requirements. In particular, when the tested signal is the FM signal of low
modulation rate, measurement results will change constantly. In this case, the user can set the
averaging of measurement results to stabilize the display effects in the following method:
click the [Average] soft key in the right side of the touch screen, open “Average”, click the
[Averaging Times] soft key in the right side of the touch screen, and the measurement result
will be displayed after averaging according to the set times.
Alarm setting: judge whether the measurement result conforms to the requirements. If it is
beyond the range, the alarm color will be displayed to make the judgment more intuitive.
Click “Alarm Setting” in the window, or click the [Alarm Setting] soft key in the right menu
to open the alarm setting window, and set the upper alarm limit and lower alarm limit. Note
