Section 1Operation Guidance for RF Transmitter Function
This part describes some operations of 4992A Radio Test Set for RF signal generation and
measurement.
4992A Radio Test Set is equipped with two independently controlled signal sources. One
signal source can be selected for independent output or both sources can be combined in the
instrument for output. RF Source 1 can be loaded with modulation waves of two types: AM and
FM, for modulation output of double audio sources.
1.RF Source 1
The T/R, SWR and ANT port can be applied for output of the RF Source 1 of 4992A. The
appropriate output port can be selected according to various power requirements.
Open the window: open and select the RF source window by pressing [Receiver] or
pressing [Measurement] and setting the instrument menu. Press [Full Screen] in the lower
part of the screen to maximize the window, as shown in Fig. 4-1.

Call the menu: click the touch screen, select the RF source window as the current active
window, and the corresponding menu will pop up on the right of the window, as shown in
Fig. 4-1.
Set the output port of Source 1: click “Port” in the window, and select the output port in
the drop-down menu, or click [Output Port] in the right menu of the touch screen and
select the output port.
Set the frequency of Source 1: click the corresponding frequency of RF Source 1 in the
window, and set the output frequency of Source 1, or click the [Frequency] soft key in the
right menu, and set the output frequency of Source 1 with number keys. The setting range
of the output frequency of RF Source 1 is 2MHz to 1000MHz.
Set the power of Source 1: click the corresponding power of RF Source 1 in the window,
and set the output power of Source 1 with number keys, or click the [Power] soft key in the
right menu and set the output power of Source 1 with number keys. Note that the output
power of various ports is different from each other.
RF Source 1 ON/OFF: click “RF Source 1” in the window to control the ON/OFF state of
