c) Test steps
1) Connect the device as shown in the figure, start it, and warm it up for 30min.
2) Reset E4438C signal source, and set its output as the 2MHz signal and the power as -10dBm.
Connect the RF output to the ANT port of RF input of the tested device.
3) Open the RF meter window of the tested device by pressing the [Transmitter] hard key or
pressing the [Measurement] hard key and setting the instrument menu.
Set the receiver as follows.
Port: ANT
Frequency: 2MHz;
Reference: 0dBm
IF bandwidth: 600kHz
Properly adjust the output frequency of the signal source to keep the frequency error less than
2.5kHz.
4) Change the receiver setting as follows.
IF bandwidth: 5kHz
Record the reading of the received signal strength in Table A.15.
5) Set the frequency and power output of the signal source in Table A.15. Correspondingly change
the receiver setting port, frequency and reference level of the RF meter.
Repeat Step 3) and 4), and record the readings of the received signal strength in Table A.15.
15. Accuracy of AM demodulation measurement
a) Test items
The output signal of E4438 amplitude modulation is applied as the benchmark in the test to verify
the accuracy of amplitude modulation measurement of the tested device. The accuracy of the
linear amplitude modulation measurement of this instrument is 5%.
b) Test block diagram and meters
The test block diagram and meters are the same as those in RF frequency error measurement.
c) Test steps
1) Connect the device as shown in the figure, start it, and warm it up for 30min.
