Received fax images are smudged or uneven.
Cause 1
Is the telephone line in proper condition? Do you have a good telephone line
connection?
Remedy
ECM (Error Correction Mode) for sending/receiving should eliminate such
problems. However, if the telephone line is in poor condition, you may have to
call the sender to resend the document.
Cause 2
Is the sending fax machine functioning properly?
Remedy
The sending fax machine usually determines the fax’s quality. Call the sender
and have them make sure the scan area of their fax machine is clean and that
their machine is functioning properly.
Cannot receive a fax using ECM (Error Correction Mode).
Cause
Does the sending fax machine support ECM?
Remedy
If the sending fax machine does not support ECM, the document is received in
the normal mode without error checking.
Reception is too slow.
Cause 1
Is the resolution set to <FINE>, <PHOTO>, <SUPER FINE>, or <ULTRA
FINE>?
Remedy
Setting the resolution to <STANDARD> reduces the receiving time. However,
any fine text in the document will also be harder to read.
Cause 2
Is ECM (Error Correction Mode) set to <ON>?
Remedy
Because ECM corrects errors during a reception, any problems on the line can
mean that the reception will take extra time. Set ECM to <OFF>.
