(Note 2) This machine counts all purge operations performed since produced in order to prevent the ink
absorber box from overflowing with drained ink. An initial purge, for example, advances the
counter by 187 + 420 = 607. When the counter approaches 6400, "MACHINE ERROR 46"
appears, and further purge operations are prohibited. Replace the ink absorber box and reset
the purge counter with the following procedure.
This machine counts all flushing operation performed since produce in order to prevent the ink
absorber box from overflowing with drained ink. Replace the flushing case when the counter
approaches 434027778, and reset the flushing counter with the following procedure.
Either the purge count or the flushing count approaches the number described above, the
"MACHINE ERROR 46" occurs. Check out both purge and flushing counter in function code 80
when "MACHINE ERROR 46" appears, and replace the defective counter then reset the
counter.
Resetting purge counter and flushing counter
MFC620CN/425CN/420CN/410CN/215C/210C and FAX2440C
1) Press the
Menu/Set
and
Black
Start
keys. Next press the key four times to enter the
maintenance mode.
TIP:
FAX models equipped with numerical keypads can enter the maintenance mode in the
same way as conventional models; that is, by pressing the
Menu/Set

4) Reset the purge count or flushing count to zero by using the and

5) Exit from the maintenance mode by using the and
