Installing Transceivers and Cables

This device supports only transceivers that are qualified for Brocade products.
For current information on qualified transceivers supported by this device, refer to the 

Brocade Transceiver Support Matrix

and the resources on the Brocade Transceiver Module webpage. These resources include transceiver data sheets.
The following note applies to QSFP transceivers on core routing blades.

•

To connect an ICL between a QSFP on a Brocade X6 Director core routing blade and a QSFP on a DCX 8510 Director

core routing blade, use the 4x32G QSFP28 SWL transceiver that supports 4x32G and 4x16G operation. Use the

appropriate ICL kit to meet Brocade X6 QSFP requirements. Contact your Brocade X6 representative for ordering

information.

 The following notes apply to transceiver cables:

•

Cables come in specific predetermined fixed lengths that are qualified by Brocade. For SFP transceiver connections,

use an appropriate cable with LC connectors to connect between the blade and device.

•

For connecting QSFP transceivers on core routing blades to ICLs, use an appropriate QSFP-to-QSFP standard cable.

This cable provides a single quad connector on each end for connecting between director QSFPs.

•

For connecting FC32-64 blade QSFPs to QSFPs, use an appropriate fiber optic cable that provides a single quad

connector on each end for connecting between device QSFPs.

•

For connecting FC32-64 blade QSFPs to individual SFP transceivers, use an appropriate fiber optic QSFP-to-SFP

breakout cable. This cable provides a single quad connector for the QSFP and four separate links, each with LC

connectors, for connecting to device SFP+ transceivers.

The following figures show examples of QSFP-to-QSFP and QSFP breakout cables. The breakout cables are useful for

ICLs if connecting to a patch panel.
