Communication unit The communication unit is available in the following versions: KE350 and KE350G IL.
The communication unit coordinates individual control units and organizes the interfaces to external
systems (e. g. PLC or central computer).
The internal system communication with the control units is implemented via a standard bus system.
To link with external systems, two serial interfaces and three unoccupied slots are available. Via these, the
tightening system can be controlled and, if necessary, data can be exchanged. Various interface modules
are available for controlling and data communication. At the time of delivery, the slots in the KE350 and
KE350G IL communication units are sealed with covers.
The logic is already integrated in the KE350G IL. It can be freely programmed in accordance with IEC
61131-3 and provides the user with countless automation options for the entire tightening process.
Combination of
multiple card rack
fields and system
boxes
Up to 40 tightening channels distributed to up to 16 card rack fields/system boxes can be networked
using a NK350 or NK350S network coupler and the NKL network coupler cable.
In this, the communication unit coordinates the individual control units and organizes the interfaces to
external systems, e. g. PLC or central computer.
A so-called NK350(S) network coupler is needed in each card rack field/system box in order to connect
multiple card rack fields/system boxes. This allows to "extend" the bus signal beyond the limits of the card
rack field/system box.
A unique rack address must be assigned to each card rack field/system box so that each channel in every
card rack field/system box can be clearly addressed.
The following card rack fields/system boxes can be coupled freely:
• BT356
• SB356
While a tightening system is in a tightening, tightening channels not involved in the tightening must neither
be activated nor deactivated or reset using the Reset pushbutton. Not involved tightening channels must
only be activated, deactivated, or reset outside of tightenings. Otherwise, an acknowledgeable error is
issued.
