CHAPTER 6: The Menu System
“Right Ctrl”), and in brackets after “Press” in the
Macro Created
column
(“Press [Left Ctrl]”, “Press [Right Ctrl]”).
If this key must be
released before
the next key in the command sequence can
be pressed, double-click this key’s new entry in the
Double Click for Key
Release
column as described below. If the key must be
held while
the next key
in the sequence is pressed, double-click the entry for the next key in the
Double Click for Key Press
column.
NOTE
Many of our ServSwitches do distinguish between left and right [Ctrl];
for instance, all commands for a regular ServSwitch must begin with left
[Ctrl], while all commands for a ServShare™ must begin with a right
[Ctrl]. Similarly, many application programs distinguish between the left-
and right-hand [Ctrl], [Alt], and/or [Shift] keys.
•
Double Click for Key Release
Once you select a keypress for your macro from the
Double Click for Key
Press
column, it appears here as is (“[Left Shift]”, “[Esc]”, etc.); it also appears
in brackets (after the word “Press”) in the
Macro Created
column (as “Press
[Left Shift]”, “Press [Esc]”, etc.). When you get to the part of the macro’s
keystroke sequence in which a pressed key needs to be released, double-click
its entry here. The key will disappear from this column and appear instead as a
“released key” in the
Macro Created
column, after the word “Release” and
enclosed in greater-than and less-than signs (as “Release <Left Shift>”, “Release
<Esc>”, etc.).
•
Macro Created
When all of the keys in the macro sequence have been pressed and released,
so that the full macro entry appears in this column and no keys remain in the
Double Click for Key Release
column, you can save the macro (see
OK
below).
A full macro entry for our hypothetical [Ctrl][q] sequence could be:
Press [Left Ctrl]
Press [q]
Release [q]
Release [Left Ctrl]
•
OK
Click this button to save any new macro you’ve created, or to exit this box
without creating one. Make sure that (a) you’ve typed in a description for the
macro and (b) you’ve released all keys you specified as being pressed (the
Double Click for Key Release
column is empty); you’ll get error messages until
these problems are fixed.
