GEARS COMMAND FORKS CONTROL
The following procedure is applied to all gears
command forks.
Check:
• the gears command fork cam follower
• the gears command fork jaw
In the presence of deformations/damages/scratches
/wear lines Replace the gears command fork.

Check:
• the clearance of the gear change fork inside the
slot of its gear using a feeler.
If the clearance is out of specification Replace
the fork or the relative gear or both.
The clearance of each fork is important for the
smoothness and precision of the speed gear change.
Fork-slot clearance
<Limit> : 0.50 mm (0.019 in)

Measure:
• the width of the slot of the gear change fork using
a cursor gauge
Slot-fork width
Standard value: 5.0 - 5.1 mm
(0.19 - 0.20 in)

Measure:
• the thickness of the gear change fork using a
cursor gauge
Fork-gear change thickness
Standard value: 4.8 - 4.9 mm
(0.18 - 0.19 in)

Check:
• the gears command fork guide pin
Roll the guide pin of the gears command fork on a
flat surface
In the presence of deformations Replace.
NOTE:
Do not attempt to straighten the fork guide bar if
it is deformed.
