Clamping Pressure and Parallelism
The fence clamping mechanism adjusts the clamping pressure to hold your fence securely and
to position the fence parallel with the blade.
Checking Fence Parallelism:
1. Disconnect and lockout power to the saw!
2. Verify that the fence gap is correct.
3. Slide the fence (A) up against the right-hand edge
of the miter slot (B) and lock it in place.
4. Fully raise the blade (C) above the insert. Using a
fine ruler, examine how the fence lines up with the
miter slot and the blade.
If the fence and miter slot are parallel with the
blade no further adjustments need to be made.
If the fence is not parallel with the blade/miter slot,
then you must adjust the fence parallel with the blade.
If the miter slot is not parallel with the blade, you must follow the procedures described in
Miter Slot to Blade parallelism.
Fence Clamping Pressure and Parallelism Adjustment
1. Disconnect and lockout power to the saw!
2. Remove the fence (D), equally adjust the set
screws (E), and then re-install the fence and
check the clamping pressure. Continue to
adjust as needed until the fence will not move
when clamped and pressure is applied against
it.
3. Mount the fence on the rail again, move it
approximately 4" away from the blade, and
lock it in place.
4. Measure the distance between the fence and
the front of the blade, then mark the tooth that
you measured from with a felt-tipped marker.
5. Rotate the blade 180° and recheck the distance between the fence and the blade tooth you
marked in step 4 to ensure they are parallel.
6. Use trial-and-error to adjust the set screws so the fence is parallel to the blade and the
clamping pressure is sufficient to prevent it from moving while clamped in position.
