Miter Slot to Blade Parallelism
The table saw will provide best results if the miter slot and the rip fence are adjusted parallel to
the blade. If either of these is not exactly parallel, your cuts and your finished work will be lower
in quality, but more importantly, the risk of kickback will be increased.
0° Check and Adjustment
1. Disconnect and lockout power to the saw!
2. Raise the blade to its highest position and tilt it toward 0° until it stops and cannot be tilted
any more.
3. Use an adjustable square (A) to measure the distance
from the miter slot to a carbide tip on the blade. Make
sure that the face of the adjustable square is even along
the miter slot.
4. With the end of the adjustable square just touching the
tip, lock the square in place. Now, mark the carbide tip
with a marker where you made this measurement.
5. Rotate the marked blade tip to the other end of the table
insert.
6. Slide the adjustable square down to the other end of the table insert, and compare the
distance from the marked blade tip to the end of the adjustable square.
If the blade tip measurement is not the same on both sides, the table will need to be
adjusted.
If the blade tip measurement is the same on both sides, the miter slot is parallel with the
table. Tilt the blade to 45° and repeat steps 3 - 6.
Note: Table top removed for clarity.
Normally adjustment will be from the bottom up.
7. To adjust the table, loosen the three bolts (B) in
the table mounting locations and lightly tap the
table in the direction needed to square the table
to the blade.
8. Repeat steps 2
– 6 until the blade and miter slot
are parallel.
9. Tighten the table mounting bolts when finished.
