3. Adjust the set screws (B) on top of the fence bracket.
4. Loosen each set screw until there is no pressure between the set screw and the fence rail.
5. Turn the sets screws in until the fence face is 90° to the table while attempting to not raise
the fence to create a gap greater than 1/16”.
6. Look at the gap between the fence and the table
top.
If the gap is approximately 1/16” and even from the
front of the table to the back, then no additional
adjustments are necessary. Proceed to clamping
pressure and parallelism.
If the gap is uneven, if the fence height is more than
1/8”, or if the fence touches the table, then continue with step 7.
7. Adjust the fence height with the rear rail foot until the gap between the table and the fence is
approximately 1/16” and even from the front of the table to the back.
Note: If the front end of the fence needs to be adjusted up or down, use the set
screws (B); however, turn them in even increments and recheck the squareness afterwards.
Offsetting Fence
Some woodworkers prefer to offset the rear of the fence 1/64” from the blade.
The reason for this wider gap at the back side of the blade is to help prevent the chance of
kickback and the blade burning the workpiece because of any workpiece inconsistency. The
trade-off however, is less accurate cuts, and if the fence is placed on the other side of blade for
other table saw operations, the potential of workpiece burning and kickback can be increased.
Whenever using a fence, make sure that if an offset has been adjusted in the fence alignment,
you use the fence on the side of the blade where the offset creates the wide gap.
