2.3.3 Information on the double filter system
Health risks associated with handling
of infectious agents or pathogens
Infectious agents and pathogens in the
aspirate cause health risks.
• Never operate the device without an
external bacterial filter.
(exception: ASSKEA disposable
secretion canister system)
• Check that the external bacterial fil-
ter is dry and clean prior to each use
to ensure faultless function!
(exception: ASSKEA disposable
secretion canister system)
The ASSKEA double filter system DFS
®
con-
sists of the external bacterial filter and the bac-
terial filter integrated into the aspirator.
For the reusable secretion canister system, a
separate, external hydrophobic (liquid-repel-
lent) bacterial filter is used.
For the disposable secretion canister system,
an external self-sealing bacterial filter is in-
tegrated into the disposable liner ‘OneWay’.
The external bacterial filters (reusable as well
as disposable secretion canister system) and
the integrated bacterial filter form the ASSKEA
double filter system and in combination they
are 99.999 % effective against bacteria and vi-
ruses.
The ASSKEA double filter system
DFS
®
effectively protects against over-
flow and contamination of the interior
of the device. It permits fast, simple
and cost-effective processing.
Service life and reuse
The external bacterial filter (for the reusable
secretion canister system) is intended for sin-
gle use. For this reason, it must be replaced
for each new patient. When used exclusively
for one patient, replace the external bacteri-
al filter no less than every two weeks, if it is
used frequently.
When replacing the external bacterial
filter, follow the supplied instruction
for use!
The integrated bacterial filter is not
suitable for reuse. To ensure con-
sistent performance, the integrated
bacterial filter must be replaced by
authorized service staff prior to each
new patient, if it has come into con-
tact with the aspirate (blocking) or
during maintenance/repair. This also
applies after the filter service life (see
below) has expired.
For the digital versions M20D and M30D of
the ASSKEA secretion aspirators an LED ad-
ditionally helps to indicate the filter status of
the double filter system (DFS).
If the DFS LED illuminates green, the standby
function of the filter system is guaranteed. If
it illuminates red, the integrated or external
bacterial filter may be blocked or aspiration
is hindered by blockage in the tubing system.
Before replacing the DFS, first check the aspi-
ration system for possible blockages.
If the integrated bacterial filter is
blocked, it must be replaced by
ASSKEA GmbH or by a service partner
authorized by ASSKEA GmbH.
2.3.4 Information on the sectretion canister
systems
Disposable secretion canister system:
The disposable secretion canister system
consists of the external canister ‘Bag‘, the
holder for the external canister ‘Bag‘, the dis-
posable liner ‘OneWay‘, the connecting tube
and the suction tube. The disposable liner
‘OneWay‘ has an integrated bacterial filter,
carbon filter and solidifier. The self-sealing
bacterial filter integrated in the disposable
liner ‘OneWay‘ is 99 % effective against mi-
croorganisms. It prevents overflow in the
event of an operational error. If liquid reach-
