Risk of damage due to electromagnetic
phenomena
Medical electrical devices are subject to
special precautionary measures regarding
electromagnetic compatibility and must be
installed and operated in accordance with
the EMC information provided in the accom-
panying documents (see section 8)!
Warning of safety defects due to improper
connections of the ME system
Connection of the ME system with other de-
vices or installations or pieces of equipment
not recommended by ASSKEA GmbH and not
specified in the instruction for use may com-
promise the safety and function of the ME
system. Any warranty is excluded for damage
caused by connecting devices or installations
or pieces of equipment not recommended
with the ASSKEA secretion aspirators M- and
S-series or by improper use. Connect only
recommended original parts with the
ASSKEA secretion aspirators M- and S-series.
Damage to the device from ingress of liquids
The ASSKEA secretion aspirators M- and
S-series have the IP classification IP22
against the ingress of liquids. Nevertheless
protect the device from moisture (see sym-
bol in section 1.2.1).
• Do not use the device near splashing water.
• Do not use the device in damp rooms or
while bathing or showering.
• Do not allow the mains cable or power sup-
ply unit, power switch, socket for the power
supply unit / mains cable or the display foil
to get wet.
• Never submerge the device in water or oth-
er liquids (even when it is switched off).
Inspection of the internal power supply
Since the internal battery of the ASSKEA se-
cretion aspirators M-series is not automati-
cally kept in a fully operational condition,
the state of charge must be checked period-
ically and, if necessary, the battery must be
replaced by service staff. The battery may
be replaced only by authorized service staff,
since replacement by inadequately trained
persons could result in a hazard (such as ex-
cessive temperatures, fire or explosion)!
Known or identifiable conditions when
using the device for medical care within a
home environment
• Children and pets must be kept away from
the device. Ensure that the device cannot
be knocked over or fall in such a way that
persons can be hit by the falling device.
• Prior to connecting the power supply unit,
ensure that the voltage of the device corre-
sponds to the home’s power supply.
• Do not use the device in damp rooms, bath-
rooms or showers.
• Do not allow the mains cable or power sup-
ply unit, power switch, socket for the power
supply unit/mains cable or the display foil
to get wet.
• Never submerge the device in water or oth-
er liquids (even when it is switched off).
• Ensure that lint and dust are immediately
removed from the device and accessories
in order to ensure unimpaired functionality.
In addition, vermin must not be allowed in
the proximity of the device, as there is a risk
they may get inside the device and cause
damage.
• Never expose the device or accessories
to direct sunlight as this could result in a
strong heating effect, causing functional
impairments.
• Some devices and sources that are com-
monly used in the home environment may
cause potential faults in the device or ac-
cessories, e.g. fireplaces or radiant heaters
(strong heating of the device) or inhalers or
steam kettles (excessive air humidity). Do
not operate such devices and sources in the
vicinity of the ASSKEA secretion aspirators
M- and S-series.
Possible physiological effects and unobvi-
ous risks
• Select the vacuum depending on the re-
spective patient and on the medical indica-
tion to avoid personal injuries.
