1.5 Purpose
1.5.1 Intended use ASSKEA secretion aspira-
tors S-series
The ASSKEA secretion aspirators S-series
are mains-operated medical aspirators used
for temporary aspiration of aspirate from the
trachea. The ASSKEA secretion aspirators
S-series are ideally suited for use in hospi-
tals, but can also be used for care and reha-
bilitation in the private sphere (homecare) for
the respective patient.
1.5.2 Intended use ASSKEA secretion aspira-
tors M-series
The ASSKEA secretion aspirators M-series are
network-independent, mobile medical aspi-
rators and are used for temporary and primar-
ily spontaneous aspiration of aspirate from
the trachea. Typical areas of application are:
• in outpatient and inpatient care,
• in homecare, especially for aspiration in tra-
cheostomy patients.
1.5.3 Essential functions
• Generation of vacuum (high vacuum)
• Generation of flow (S20, S20K, M20, M20D:
low flow; S30, M30D: high flow)
1.5.4 Applied parts
The suction tube is an applied part of type BF.
1.5.5 Indications
• Tracheostomy patients
• Aspiration on impaired respiratory function
• Aspiration of blood, secretion and food
residues from the oral cavity, the pharyngeal
zone and the bronchial system
• Evacuation of vacuum mattresses and
vacuum splints
1.5.6 Contraindications
The ASSKEA secretion aspirators M- and
S-series are contraindicated for the following
applications:
• Liposuction
• Gynecology applications
• Thoracic drainage
• Continuous drainage
• Applications in wound areas
• Dental applications
1.5.7 Restrictions on use
• In medical rooms where potential equali-
zation is required (e.g. heart surgery)
• In hazardous areas / in the MRI environment
• Outdoors / during transport
1.6 Basic safety instructions
– ATTENTION!
Warning of damage due to improper power
supply
Improper operation causes excess voltage in
the device, which may be transmitted to the
operator.
• Ensure prior to start-up that the mains sup-
ply for connecting the ASSKEA secretion
aspirators S-series is suitable for 230 V AC
with a mains frequency of 50 Hz and for con-
necting the ASSKEA secretion aspirators
M-series that it is suitable at 100 V to 240 V
AC with a mains frequency of 50 - 60 Hz.
• Ensure prior to start-up in UL listed markets
such as the USA or Canada that the mains
supply is designed for a supply voltage of
120 V AC.
• Use only the supplied power supply unit
(type: GTM91099-6015-3.0-T2) with the
ASSKEA secretion aspirators M-series resp.
the supplied mains cable (type: H05VV-F
2x1,0 mm²) with the ASSKEA secretion as-
pirators S-series.
Risks associated with use in conditions that
are not approved
• The devices are not intended to be used
outdoors/during transport.
• The devices are not intended to be used in
medical rooms where potential equalization
is required (e.g. heart surgery).
