7.1.3.4 DC Power Interconnect
The redundant interconnect is made up of PEM1 and PEM2 supplies. The first supply (-48 V_A)
is sourced from PEM1 on the left-hand side (as viewed from the front of the shelf). The second
supply (-48 V_B) is sourced from PEM2 on the right-hand side. Both supplies are individually
routed to each ShMC, fan tray, node and user card slot. In both interconnects, the FRUs are
expected to OR the two sources to allow for redundancy.
The PEMs are current limited by breakers at 30 A.
For the blades, power is distributed as defined in the PICMG 3.0 Specification . The following
figure illustrates the power distribution system as it pertains to the FRUs found in the two-PEM
shelf.
