MP168 Video Switcher/Controller System
EXTERNAL SYNCHRONIZER
CONNECTION
The MP168 Switcher has built in synchronizing
circuitry that automatically synchronizes the internal
functions of the system to the primary AC input power
source.
The MP168 can also accept a sync signal from an
external signal generator when it is desirable to
synchronize the MP168 and any auxiliary devices to a
signal other than the primary AC input power (see
Figure 2-14).
In applications where an external synchronizer is
required, the MP168 provides an input BNC connector
on the rear panel of the Power Supply Module (see
Figure 2-14).
Setting Vertical Phase
A vertical phase control on the front of the Power
Supply Module allows fine-tuning of the vertical video
pulse to reduce the response time between when a
switching command is given (via system control
device) and when the new picture is displayed on the
monitor.
NOTE: technicians familiar with video system
characteristics should carry out this
adjustment
.
When performing the vertical phase
adjustment, designate one camera to be the
reference camera and make all adjustments
with respect to that one camera.
1. Remove the front cover of the MP168 Switcher bay.
2. Locate the vertical phase adjustment potentiometer
on the front panel of the Power Supply Module (see
Figure 2-15).
3. Call a camera to a functional monitor.
4. Insert a small flat-head screwdriver into the phase
potentiometer adjustment slot.
5. Push and hold in the phase setup button while
slowly rotating the potentiometer with the
screwdriver.
6. Continue rotating the potentiometer until the phase
line on the test monitor has moved to the bottom of
the monitor screen.
