MP168 Video Switcher/Controller System
VIM-2 to VIM-3 Connections
All video input connections to VIM-2/VIM-3 pairs
should be made using a quality 75 ohm, RG-59 video
cable such as Belden 8241 (or equivalent) with BNC
connectors.
VIM-2 and VIM-3 modules are used in dual MP168
bay configurations to transfer video input signals
between the lower and the upper bays (see Figure 2-8).

Ribbon Cable Connections
In dual-bay configurations, half of the system video
inputs are connected to bay number one and half of the
video inputs are connected to bay number two. A 0.8
meter (30 inch) coax ribbon cable joins each VIM-
2/VIM-3 pair between the two bays for signal switches.
The appropriate number of coax ribbon cables for the
number of VIM-2/VIM-3 pairs is provided with the
MP168 System.
The VIM-2 and 3 modules must be connected in pairs,
i.e., a VIM-2 in slot E of bay one would connect to the
VIM-3 module residing in slot E of bay two (see Figure
2-8). Modules in separate bays joined by ribbon cables
are referred to as “Cabled Pairs”.
