VIDEO INPUT MODULE
CONNECTIONS
Continue until all inputs are connected to the system.
Unused video input terminals on the VIM modules do
not require any external connection or termination, and
may be left unconnected.
VIM-1 Connections
As described in Chapter 1, up to 15 VIM-1 modules
may be used with the MP168 Switcher. Each VIM-1
module includes 12 terminated BNCs for video input
connections. All VIM-1 modules are identical
regardless of the number installed in the bay.
The position in which the VIM-1 is installed in the Bay
determines the numbers that the MP168 Switcher
assigns to the particular video inputs. The starting
camera number for VIM-1 modules is located at the top
BNC on the left-most module in the Bay (as seen from
the rear). The first VIM-1 module is for video inputs 1
– 12; the next module (the second VIM-1) is for inputs
13 - 24, etc (see Figure 2-7A).
NOTE: All video input connections should be made
using a quality 75 ohm, RG-59 video cable
such as Belden 8241 (or equivalent) with BNC
connectors.
Connect video inputs in succession to the respective
BNC terminal on the VIM-1 module, working from top
to bottom (see Figure 2-7B).
NOTE: Making notes that identify which video inputs
are being connected to each input BNC
terminal at the MP168 Bay will be very
helpful during the system programming
process and when troubleshooting system
problems.
