Running Fiber Autotest 93
Running a double ended fiber autotest
Connect the WireScope 350 and attached Fiber SmartProbe
+
to one end of the
fiber pair to be tested. Connect the DualRemote 350 and attached Fiber
SmartProbe
+
to the other end. After pressing
Start Test
on the Fiber Autotest
Setup screen, the screen shown below will appear.
The Fiber Autotest screen shows the current state of the fibers connections. The
WireScope 350 constantly monitors these connections waiting for a valid double
ended configuration. Once a valid configuration is detected, the cable
connection(s) are drawn and the
Start Test
button is enabled. Press
Start Test
or
to begin the Fiber Autotest. If the test configuration is a 2 fiber
connection between Fiber SmartProbes with different wavelengths, the test will
continue with a screen similar to the one below. Otherwise the test will run to
completion and the Fiber Autotest Result screen will be displayed.
It is at this point in a double ended test where the user(s) must swap the fibers at
each end of the fiber cable run before the test can complete. Both the
WireScope and the DualRemote will play a swap chirrup to indicate this
required fiber swap.
