Loss Meter
Purpose
The Loss Meter is a troubleshooting tool, aimed at helping the installer quickly
verify and correct cabling problems. The Loss Meter continuously reports the
loss on each fiber optic cable connected. The Loss Meter performs the test in
real time and displays results based on the current configuration and the number
of fiber optic cables connected to the SmartProbe(s).
Operation
From the Fiber Tools menu, press the
Loss Meter
button, or the
button,
since

The Loss Meter shows the current test configuration and constantly updates the
measured loss values for all applicable wavelengths in real time. The Fiber Loss
Meter screen shows the results of the measurement in the Data Table. From
here, the measurements can be saved, for use later as viewing.
The tool offers the following options:
·
Press
Clear Peak
to reset the peak values in the data table.
·
Press
Save
to write the current table to the results database.
·
Press the

button to bring you up a configuration screen
where you will be able to select single or double ended testing, and/or
specify the fiber type. See the Quick Setup Overview topic in the
